Part One, "Understanding Your Machine," This section illuminates the intricate workings of our brain and sets the stage for understanding how our mental processes impact our physical state. The following chapters discuss the 'Power of a Code' and the intriguing debate between reductionism and holism, providing readers with a comprehensive understanding of how individual elements and their interconnections contribute to our health.
Part Two, "Understanding the Codes," is a detailed exploration of the seven critical codes of health. Starting with an introduction to these codes, the book then delves into each one individually, beginning with chronic inflammation and its pervasive impact on health.

"This book was written for and, I hope, will be read and used by medical doctors, chiropractors, naturopaths, nurse practitioners, other members of the medical field, and patients. To all of them and their families I say, “Read Dr. Andy Barlow’s book.” I would go further, and advise medical practitioners to buy extra copies of this book and give them to their patients. Because who doesn’t want a disease-free life?
That’s what Dr. Barlow offers in the very subtitle of his book. You may ask, why is the main title “The Code Breaker?” I would hate to spoil the book for anyone, so I’ll try to be as general as I can, but there is just so much good material in this book that I just can’t help but mention a few things. “The Code Breaker” is about breaking the code of complex diseases that medical practitioners find hard to understand or decipher its source or cause. With the diseases that plague humanity today, a patient may go from doctor to doctor, and each doctor may order a different barrage of tests leading to five or ten different diagnoses, which result in the prescription of five or ten different sets of prescriptions. In the end all the tests are just one big fishing expedition with a big stack of results as the only catch, and, as Dr. Barlow has also said, perhaps the patient is told it’s all in their head, or they just have to treat the symptoms, not the actual disease, or they just have to live with it.
For me, a Code Breaker is someone who can decode all the clutter that is obfuscating the management of a patient’s disease. The Code Breaker can see clues and hints in a patient’s history and symptoms and understand the need for a reliable and accurate lab with the highest standards. The Code Breaker must know which tests to order, because in many cases ordering a single test isn’t enough, and sometimes you have to order a comprehensive repertoire of tests. And, finally, the Code Breaker you must know how to interpret the results of those tests and break the code of the patient’s disease.
Dr. Andy Barlow is the quintessential Code Breaker. He understands his material so well that he can break it down so that even laymen can benefit from reading his book. I recommend everyone not to skip the introduction as some readers do, because it is educational, scientific, spiritual and inspiring. Yes, all that in just the introduction. He also lists in this section the top six causes of death due to chronic illness in the United States: heart disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes. These particularly struck me as an immunologist, because all these diseases are connected to the immune and nervous system. They have been the top killers for 20 years, and the medical profession needs to wake up and do something about it!"
